A planning application has been submitted to Tipperary County Council for an expansion of facilities at Fethard Equine Hospital.

The application is by Kilnockin Partnership and the plans are currently in the pre-validation stage. If the proposal is validated a decision is due to be made by the council by March 4, 2026.
Permission is being sought for the construction of a two storey laboratory building at the hospital on Kilknockan Road, Fethard.
Plans include laboratory space, offices for veterinary staff, storage rooms, a plant room and a bin store, as well as a canteen and two overnight bedrooms for veterinary nurses. The application also covers all associated site works.
Established in 2007, Fethard Equine Hospital was created as a purpose built surgical facility, building on more than 35 years of veterinary practice under O’Byrne and Halley.
Since opening, the equine hospital has become a specialist referral and first opinion centre, treating horses from across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
