Before Upperchurch Drombane went on to claim All-Ireland intermediate honours, this pre-Munster final feature by John Harrington on GAA.ie captured the family roots that underpin the club’s remarkable journey.

At the heart of the story is the late Pakie Ryan, a hugely influential figure in the parish whose love for hurling shaped generations that followed. That legacy lived on through his grandsons Gavin, Keith and Aaron Ryan, all central figures in the team currently.
