Three Tipperary students named among captains of secondary school rugby teams

Rockwell College has announced the captains for its Senior and Junior Cup rugby teams ahead of the upcoming cup campaigns, with three Tipperary students taking on key leadership roles across both squads.

The Senior Cup team will be led by Mateo Gutierrez from Killenard, Co Laois, with Aidan Russell of Clonmel, Co Tipperary, appointed Vice-Captain.

The Junior Cup team will be captained by Jack Landy from New Inn, Co Tipperary, with Ethan Kendrick of Clonmel, Co Tipperary, named Vice-Captain.

The captains recently met with Principal Audrey O’Byrne as preparations continue for the season ahead, marking an important milestone for both teams as they enter the final stages of their training.

The Senior Cup team will begin its campaign on Wednesday, January 28, while the Junior Cup team will open their campaign on Wednesday, February 4.

Rugby remains a central part of life at Rockwell College, with a strong emphasis on leadership, teamwork, and personal development.
