RIP: Tributes paid to late Tipperary man known for role in The Rebel Hearts

Liam Coen, of Rossmore, Co Tipperary, and late of Newbridge, Co Kildare, passed away peacefully on January 16 2026, at his residence, after a long illness, bravely borne.

Liam is deeply regretted by his loving wife Bernie, son Cathal, stepsons Diarmuid and Evan, father Michael, mother Mary, brothers Seamus, Micheál and Padraig, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends and his special friends in The Rebel Hearts.

Liam played the banjo with the Tipperary-based group.

He will lay in repose this Sunday afternoon, January 18, at Hayes Funeral Chapel, Clonoulty, from 3pm to 6pm.

His removal will take place on Monday morning, January 19, to Church of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Rossmore, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11:30am.

The funeral afterwards will move to the adjoining cemetery for burial.

Tributes have been paid to Liam following his passing, with one person saying: "Sincere condolences to the Coen & Butler families at this desperately sad time. We had the pleasure of being in Liam's company at a few great family occasions."

Another said: "Rest in peace Liam. A true gentleman. Condolences to all your family."
