The Knockavilla Kickhams man was just one of several Tipperary players to impress for the Limerick institution during the 80 minutes of play, but it was the Kickhams man who stood out, hitting four points from play during the contest.

Trailing for most of normal time, the Limerick team were without the services of some big players in the form of intercounty players like Shane O’Brien (Limerick), Adam Hogan, Sean Boyce (Clare), and Joe Caesar (Tipperary).

It took a big fightback for them to claw their way to extra time with Daly, Cian Scully, and Shane Walsh to the fore for them towards the end of the second half as they eventually dragged the game back after Westmeath’s Peter Clarke had bagged a goal in either half to help DCU into a good position.

Once that happened, extra time was controlled in full for the 2024 champions as they outscored the Dubliners 0-11 to 0-2, with Eoin Craddock (Holycross Ballycahill) and Ben Currivan (Golden Kilfeacle) having a big impact in that time with important score while Cathal Quinn (Cashel King Cormacs) also brought great energy when introduced in extra time.
