BREAKING: Boil water notice in Tipperary has been lifted with immediate effect

460 customers were affected by the notice

The Boil Water Notice on The Commons Public Water Supply in Tipperary has been lifted with immediate effect.

Uisce Éireann can confirm that, following consultation with the Health Service Executive, customers on this supply can now resume normal use of their water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.  This follows consistent satisfactory sampling results.

The Boil Water Notice was issued on March 16 to protect the health of approximately 460 customers due to increased turbidity, which impacted the treatment processes at the water treatment plant.

Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann worked hard to lift the notice for impacted customers as quickly and as safely as possible.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said “We are pleased to confirm that the Boil Water Notice has now been lifted. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the local community while our drinking water experts worked to lift this notice”.

Uisce Éireann also reminds customers supplied by Tipperary Town’s Cordangan Water Treatment Plant that the Boil Water Notices in place for this supply will remain in place until further notice.

The notice was put in place to protect public health due to high turbidity levels in the plant's raw water source, which has affected the treatment process at the water treatment plant.
