The Main Oration will be given by Sinn Fein TD for Carlow/Kilkenny Natasha Newsome Drennan.
Plant, a Republican from a Church of Ireland and farming background, served in the Tan War and Civil War, he continued to rise through the ranks of the IRA in the 1930's and early 1940s.
He was executed by a Free State firing squad in Portlaoise Prison in 1942. His body was withheld from his family by the then Fianna Fail Minister for Justice and was buried in the grounds of Portlaoise Prison.
It wasn't until 1948 that his family was permitted to have George reinterred in St Johnstown Graveyard, where he was buried with full IRA military honours in his native home of South Tipperary.
