The men’s race at the County Senior Road Championships in Ballyneale saw Sean Tobin of Clonmel AC setting a strong pace from the start, which saw him going well clear in the early stages and he continued that strong tempo to come home a very worthy and convincing champion in 30 minutes 57 seconds.

Sean is running very well at the moment, having set a course record of 13 minutes 57 seconds the previous Thursday night in the Streets of Kilkenny 5k.

Then we had Emmet McNamara, Fethard AC and Dermot Gorman, Carrick-on-Suir AC having a battle for the silver medal. It was only over the closing stages that Emmet drew clear to win the silver medal in 32 minutes 47 seconds, with Dermot winning the bronze in 32 minutes 58 seconds.

Sean Landers of Mooreabbey Milers AC was fourth in 34 minutes 51 seconds, with Danny Brosnan Clonmel AC fifth in 35 minutes 25 seconds and Padraic Maher Thurles Crokes AC sixth in 35 minutes 44 seconds.

It is great to see the County Novice performances holding up well in such competition.
