St Molleran's GAA & Camogie Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Denis Dowley.
Denis was not just a St Molleran's clubman, he was part of the very fabric of the community.
For decades, he poured his heart and soul into the maroon and white, giving his time, energy and quiet strength to both the club and Carrickbeg.
His contribution is something that simply cannot be measured.
On the pitch, Denis was the kind of player every team hopes to have; dependable, brave and utterly committed.
As a corner back, he wore the club colours with pride and purpose.
Denis gave everything he had every time he stepped onto the field from playing on the 1964 Junior team to the 1970 Intermediate squad and 1971 Senior team.
His teammates remember not just his toughness, but how his calm reassurance gave the sense that, with Denis beside you, things would be all right.
It was off the field where Denis’ generosity truly shone. His support never wavered, whether it was driving the old Sunday morning draw or simply being there whenever the club needed him, He asked for nothing in return.
He gave quietly, consistently and with a sincerity that left a lasting mark. People like Denis build clubs. People like Denis strengthen communities.
His legacy is all around the club and community today. Above all, Denis was a gentleman, kind-hearted, respectful and deeply genuine.
His presence around the club was always welcomed, always appreciated and always uplifting. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
St Molleran’s GAA Club extends heartfelt sympathy to his beloved wife Phyllis, his children Gillian, Mark and Tracey, his extended family and his many friends and former colleagues.
Their loss is immense and St Molleran’s GAA Club holds them all in its thoughts at this very sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Meanwhile, St Molleran’s GAA Club congratulates club member Ferdia Geoghegan and his county Minor teammates on last Friday’s win against Limerick. The team look forward to hosting Cork this Friday at Fraher Field in Dungarvan.
The club’s adult team and management look forward to the second round County Hurling League game against Modeligo in Carrickbeg at 7.30pm this Friday.
