In a reflection shared by the club, Cashel RFC said the grounds were “full of life” as supporters, members and friends gathered for the season finale, with a packed pre-match dinner setting the tone for the occasion.
A central feature of the day was the official opening of the club’s new viewing area, Ganders Gallery, named in honour of club figure Gander Ryan. The launch was marked in the presence of the Ryan family, with the club describing it as a “fitting tribute” and a significant moment in its recent development.
Former Ireland and Munster player Mick Galway attended as guest speaker, contributing stories and reflections that the club said added considerably to the occasion.
The day also carried a notable element of recognition for outgoing club president Pat O'Donoghue, who was acknowledged after five years in the role. The club highlighted his “dedication, leadership and commitment” during his tenure.
On the field, Cashel were beaten 12–24 by Shannon RFC, although the result did not detract from what the club described as a strong mid-table finish to their league campaign.
Attention then turned back to the clubhouse, where several individual milestones were marked. These included Dave Upton earning his first international cap with Belgium, Rob Carney’s contribution to a successful U20 Six Nations campaign that included Triple Crown honours, and club captain Richard Moran reaching 180 All-Ireland League appearances.
The club said the day captured what club rugby is “all about”, pointing to community, pride and recognition as defining themes of the occasion.
