A fuel and cost of living protest has been organised to take place this Saturday, April 18 in Thurles.
North Tipperary Sinn Féin Cathaoirleach Dan Harty, who is one of the organisers, has said: “Since the widespread fuel protests last and the flowing events in the Dáil this week, there have been calls for a protest in the Thurles area”.

“I want to call on all those who didn’t get a chance to attend any of the protests last week, for those that are struggling with the spiralling costs of things such as fuel, home heating oil and electric bills. To those who think the government mishandled the protest, that feel the government package didn’t go far enough and to those aren’t happy with how their TD’s voted in the no confidence motion in the Dáil. I want to call on you to get you feet on the street this Saturday”.
Mr Harty continued: “The protest will gather in the Munster Hotel carpark and leave for Liberty Square at 2:30pm. The protest will gather outside the Ursuline in Liberty Square, it be peaceful and there will be minimal impact on local traffic”.

Mr Harty concluded: “Everyone is welcome, bring family, friends, flags and placards and lets
hope the weather is in our favour”.
