St.Michaels Fc 1
These two teams have had good battles for the last few seasons and this game was no different.
With a place in the open draw at stake it was all to play for.
Conditions were poor from the off and the wind and rain did not let up for the whole game.
Villa started well and had the best of the early exchanges.
Pippy Carroll came close midway through the half but his shot was saved well.
Mick Ryan and Keith Cahill were doing well in midfield and were winning good ball.
The St.Michaels keeper got injured mid way through the half and had to be replaced.
Alan Leahy and Evan McCormack were controlling defence well.
The referee had a big decision to make 35 minutes in when Pippy Carroll was taking down but he waved it away.
Not too many other chances in the 1st half and the sides went in 0-0 at half time.

The second half started to open up more and Villa broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when Keith Cahill crossed a great ball and Pippy Carroll jumped highest and his header found the bottom corner. What a header it was. 1-0.
With Villa taking the lead the game opened up more and there were half chances for both sides but it was Villa who doubled their lead in the 88th minute when Darragh Byrne made a great run down the flanks and into the box where he was taking down and the referee pointed at the spot.
Pippy Carroll stepped up and scored to make it 2-0.
In the 91st minute the visitors were awarded a penalty and it was well saved by Willie Tierney but Jimmy Carr was on hand to put the rebound away.
Tierney was brave shortly after when coming out to a through ball and got injured. He had to be replaced by Shane McGuire.
After 10 minutes of injury time the final whistle went and Villa go through to the open draw.
A great win for Villa and the whole team played their part. Best on the day were Pippy Carroll, Eoin O Dwyer and Alan Leahy. Full Time 2-1.
Vee Rovers Fc 1
Peake Villa Fc 2
Our Junior B team travelled to Clogheen Sunday morning to take on Vee Rovers in the 3rd round of the Munster Junior Cup.
Conditions were blustery and wet and it was going to be a tough test for our young squad.
Villa had to dig deep in the first half and did that in spades handling anything Vee threw at them. Villa were not without their own chances and came close on a few occasions throughout the half.
Just on half time Villa had a corner and the ball broke to Kevin Croke in the box and he was taking down and a penalty was awarded. Conor Murphy stepped up to score the penalty. Half Time 0-1.
Villa came out in the second half and went at the Vee defence and were rewarded in the 53rd when Niall Dunne played in Conor Murphy who struck to the bottom corner to make it 0-2.
Vee grew into the game and came close in the 60th minute when a deflected shot was well saved by Jack condon in the Villa goal.
Vee pulled one back with a great strike from outside the box to make it 1-2 in the 64th minute.
Villa did not panic and kept playing and could have added another when Kevin Patan and Scott Brennan came close on two occasions.
They held out for a great win in what were tough conditions.
Best on the day were the whole squad to the man with everyone of them playing their part.
Full Time 1-2.
