Taking cover: Cllr Seamus Morris is calling for bus shelters in Nenagh because users are getting wet from rain
The vast majority of people who made a submission on the proposed traffic management plan for Nenagh agreed with relocating the town’s bus stops to the railway station, local councillors have been told.
District manager Marcus O’Connor told Cllr Hughie McGrath at Nenagh Municipal District Council in October that the plan was being held up while the council awaits a decision on moving the bus stops.
He said that consultants had been engaged with producing the plan but they still had to get the agreement of the National Transport Authority on the bus stops.
“We want to see them going to the train station,” he said.
At present, all buses - private and Bus Éireann services - stop at Kickham Street, and it has been pointed out previously that on occasion traffic gets held up when two buses arrive at the same time and cars often park in the bus lane.
Mr O’Connor revealed that out of 30 responses to moving the stops, only one person was against the idea.
