Massive funding for Tipperary comunity centres

Burncourt Community Council has received almost €210,000 funding from the Government

Community centres in Tipperary will receive essential funding of €809,400 to carry out upgrades and repairs.

 Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, confirmed funding of €33 million which will be spread across 278 community centres in the country.

A massive €209,832 was allocated to Burncourt Community Council under the programme.It was the biggest amount allocated to a Tipperary project under the scheme.

Funding was also allocated to Clonmel Scout Group,Three Drives Family Resource Centre, Drom, Terryglass, Newport, Rosegreen, Roscrea,Ballagh and Ballylackey

“This allocation of €209,832.20 for Burncourt comes after an application for an extension and upgrade works was sought for the community hall by the Community Council. Massive congratulations to the hardworking committee who submitted the application.Just brilliant news for a vibrant rural village,” said Cllr Máirín McGrath.


The funding was welcomed by Senator Garret Ahearn.

“ Community centres are valued shared spaces and are very much at the heart of Tipperary towns and villages. I hope this funding assists in making them even better in the provision of services to people all across Tipperary, said Senator Garret Ahearn.
