Bereavement

We extend sympathy to the Noonan and Gahan Families on the recent death of Lucy Noonan (nee Gahan) of Ballyrichard.
For over 20 years Lucy has volunteered her nursing skills to pilgrims to Lourdes who were not in the best of health.

Many of her fellow volunteers travelled to Drangan to form a guard of honour as her coffin arrived at The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Drangan.

Lucy’s sons Derek and Jason were members of several successful St. Patrick’s hurling and football teams from their juvenile successes in the late 1980’s up to the late 1990s.

Jason helped St. Patrick’s to a South Tipperary minor football title in 1989 and was a member of the County Minor Football panel until injury forced him out.

In 1991 Jason helped St. Patrick’s to victory in the South Tipperary Under 21 Hurling Championship. Also in 1993 Jason helped Scoil Ruain Killenaule to Munster Final victories in both hurling and football.

In 1998 both Derek and Jason were members of the St. Patricks Junior B hurling team that won the South Tipperary Final. This team was captained by Derek.

However, success on GAA fields was not limited to the boys as Denise was a prominent member of several successful St. Patrick’s underage and Junior Ladies Football teams.

John also lined out with St. Patrick’s in his younger days and served as a selector on many St. Patrick’s underage teams and continues to be a loyal St. Patrick’s supporter at almost every St. Patricks game underage or adult.

Lucy’s brothers also lined out with St. Patrick’s with her brother John helping St. Patrick’s to victory in the 1967 South Tipperary and County Tipperary Junior football finals.

May the soul of Lucy Noonan rest in peace.
