Ursuline Secondary School, Thurles
Congratulations to Hannah Murphy, TY, who is through to the National Final of the EU Soapbox Public Speaking Competition promoted by Libraries Ireland.
Hannah impressed the Regional judges with her speech tackling the question’s Europe listening to its young people?’.
Other Ursuline competitors included Rosie Bradish, Gemma Fitzgerald, Gillian Aherne, Rosa Ryan, Nora Kilrane, Cáit Browne and Holly Kiely. Congratulations to Holly, who was runner-up in the same competition.
In the First Year Debating Competition organised by Ms Quinn, the students debated the very seasonal and topical motion Chris is still in Christmas’.
Well done to the winners, Eleanor Kiernan, Tianna O’Leary and Charlotte Roe. Joint second place was awarded to Amy Reidy, Mary Kate Fogarty and Máire Kearney, and on the other team, Alison McBrearty, Emily Feehan and Sadhbh McGreath proved themselves, worthy adversaries.
Well done to all participants who put great effort into writing their speeches and delivering them in what was a very enjoyable in-house competition.
