Five cars cars destroyed in arson attack in east Belfast, police say

Five cars were destroyed and another damaged in an arson attack on a business in east Belfast on Tuesday night.

Police say they were called to the fire just after 11:30pm, which they attended along with the fire service.

CCTV footage shows a blue Toyota Yaris, with two males inside, ramming the shutter door to gain access to a yard, police said in a statement.

They say the passenger then left the car and set fire to the cars parked in the yard.

The Yaris then fled the scene in the direction of Ravenhill Road.

Inspector Connolly said: “I am appealing to anyone with any information, or anyone who was in the area at the time and may have captured dash cam footage which could assist with our enquiries, to contact officers at Strandtown station.”
