Historic house ‘significantly damaged’ in suspected arson attack

A historic house in Co Tyrone has been “significantly damaged” in a suspected arson attack.

Police said a large fire was discovered at Crevenagh House, which is thought to date to 1820, close to Omagh on Sunday evening.

A police spokesperson said the blaze was reported to officers at around 7.15pm, and issued an appeal for information.

“Officers and colleagues at the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of the fire, which is believed may have been started deliberately,” they said.

“This was a large fire, and significant damage has been caused to the property.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious activity, or has information or video footage which may help with our inquiries, to get in touch with us by calling 101 quoting reference 1284 22/02/26.”
