24-year-old woman killed in Kilkeel crash named by police

A woman killed in a road crash in Kilkeel has been named as 24-year-old Aoife Tinnelly.

Ms Tinnelly, who was from the Kilkeel area, died after a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Monday evening.

The incident involved a white Audi A1 and blue Mercedes Benz on the Newry Road.

A spokesperson from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit said officers and other emergency services attended, “however very sadly Aoife was pronounced deceased at the scene”.

Two other people were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.

The Newry Road was closed for a number of hours but has now fully reopened.

Police inquiries are continuing.
