'Poignant day' as Offaly sporting icon announces retirement

Offaly Camogie has paid tribute to one of its finest ever players after Michaela Morkan announced her intercounty retirement.

The news was reported on Monday evening with the Shinrone club star calling time on her county career after 16 seaaons.

Offaly Camogie paid tribute by saying it "is a poignant day for Offaly Camogie when one of our greatest players announces their retirement."

"Thank you Michaela for everything you have done for our game and our county. #legend," they concluded.

Morkan won junior All-Ireland honours with Offaly in 2009 and the intermediate All-Ireland the following season.
