'Community Spirit' the theme of St Patrick's Day parade in Offaly capital

The organising committee of the St Patrick's Day parade in Tullamore have the main man on board!

Preparations are well underway to ensure that the Tullamore St. Patrick's Day Parade returns in style this year after an absence of two years.

"A lot of work has been done over the past week to ensure that everything will be in place for this great event,' Secretary Cllr Sean O'Brien told the Tribune.

Add Cllr O'Brien: “We have received a positive response from bands and we will confirm this in the coming days. We have received a very positive response from the general public and many groups want to take part."

The theme of this year's parade appropriately is "Community Spirit".

“The parade is a community event and we want to give the community the opportunity to reflect this in the various entries,” stated the secretary.

He added: “ We have seen tough times during the Covid lockdown but the community response was excellent. The success of the Offaly Under 20 football team brought the whole community together in a joyous celebration"

The Grand Marshall for this year is Phil O' Reilly Sr. in recognition of his great contribution to Tullamore and Offaly in his sporting and business ventures.

Letters will be sent to organisations and businesses over the coming days giving details of the Parade.
