WARNING: Treacherous conditions this morning after snow and freezing temperatures overnight
Overnight snow and freezing temperatures have left some roads in a treacherous condition this morning.
With more wintry showers forecast, motorists are being advised to drive with extreme caution particularly on untreated roads.
The advice from the AA on how to cope with such conditions, is to be prepared.
They have also detailed a few tips to make your commute safer. Drivers are urged to slow down and allow extra space to brake.
"One of the most important things you need to do while driving on icy roads is slow down. This means allowing extra time for your journeys, as it might take you a little longer to get there.
"In icy conditions it can take ten times longer to stop your vehicle, meaning it’s essential to give yourself extra space around other road users," the AA says.
