Cars parked on the footpath at Distillery Lane leave little room for pedestrians and no room for those with disabilities
THE constant parking of cars on a footpath at Distillery Lane in Tullamore, forces pedestrians out onto what is a busy section of road leading to the Bridge Centre car park.
People are complaining about this ongoing issue and say that those in wheelchairs or pushing buggies cannot walk along that particular part of the footpath. It would also cause huge issues for the visually impaired.
This is an continuous occurrence and while the fine for parking on footpaths has increased form €40 to €80 since February 1, these motorists don't seem to care.
They are also parking on a double yellow line and there is a 'No Parking' sign visible.
In addition many of the vehicles are parked in a loading bay which states there is a clamping in operation with an €80 release fee.
