Nominations for prestigious awards for singer with Offaly connections

LARISSA 3

Kilbeggan based Larissa Tormey

Singer/songwriter  Larissa Tormey  has been nominated for a sensational  13awards  at the  Fair Play Country Music Awards  in Holland later this year, and has been invited to perform at the official ceremony in August.

Larissa, whose rescheduled  “In the Glow of a Winter's Eve”concert takes place in Moate's Tuar Ard Arts Centre on February 3, is a past winner of these prestigious awards for independent artists. But the Kilbeggan songstress confessed that news of this year's nominations means just as much as any past successes.

"I've been very lucky to have the honour of winning four  FPCM awards in the past few years. And every time I've said the same thing: that just being nominated was like a win in its own way. As an independent artist, to receive any kind of recognition for your creative endeavours is always appreciated. And all the more so when you're in categories that include so many talented artists and performers from across Europe."

Larissa continued,  "To actually win, of course, is a very special feeling. But even being nominated is a validation of your work. So having thirteen nominations this year, especially after some tough years for a lot of us in the music industry, is something I'm extremely grateful for."

Ahead of her rescheduled  I concert at Moate's Tuar Ard Arts Centre on February 3rd, Larissa will release her first single of 2023 on January 27th when her version of Song For Ireland drops on all digital platforms.

And her recent Christmas single, also called  In The Glow Of A Winter's Eve  (co-written with Lusmagh poet and lyricist Anthony Sullivan) is responsible for two of her thirteen award nods at this year's FPCM Awards, being named in both the  Best Christmas Original Song by a Female Artist, and  Best Voice in All Genres by a Female Artist.
