EIGHT year old Pearl Scally, from Daingean, recently had 12 inches of her hair chopped as part of 'Locks of Love for LauraLynn'.

The hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust and will be used to make a wig for a child recovering from cancer.

Pearl to date has collected more than €1000 in sponsorship from family, friends and neighbours for LauraLynn Children's Hospice as part of her 'Locks of Love for LauraLynn'.

The 'big chop' took place on Saturday last, January 21 in 'Studio S' hair salon in Daingean. Her proud parents, Mairéad and Dev, and little brothers Bruce and Ruben joined Pearl for this momentous occasion.

Pearl's mother Mairéad said: "We are phenomenally proud of Pearl and what she has achieved. The positivity and generosity of everyone has been just amazing. Pearl is absolutely over the moon, and has learned so much about the joy of helping others and how she can be a conduit for kindness and generosity in other people. "

Siobhán Carey from 'Studio S', Daingean, who undertook the big chop said "I'm delighted to be involved and to be able to offer up my time to help LauraLynn Children's Hospice".

LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions and supports for their families across Ireland.
