Ireland is in for another short cold snap this week as Met Eireann is forecasting sub zero temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday night.
According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast, there are some frosty nights and mornings ahead but it will be generally dry with light breezes.
The coldest weather looks set to be on Wednesday night with temperatures dropping to -2 degrees in places while temperatures are set to hover around freezing in places on Thursday night.
According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast, Wednesday will be largely dryapart from patchy drizzle across the west and northwest. A band of rain will develop from the northwest and track eastwards through the late evening. The best of any sunny spells will occur in the south and east. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees. Becoming windy as southwesterly winds increase fresh to strong.
A band of rain will continue to move down from the northwest overnight. Some frost and ice forming later under clearing skies. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +3 degrees, coldest in the south, in moderating westerly breezes.
A cold and frosty or icy start on Thursday morning but with good sunshine too. Most areas will stay dry with just light westerly breezes, though a few passing showers will occur across northern counties. Cool but pleasant with highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.
Some frost is expected early on Thursday night, ahead of increasing cloud and patchy drizzle, mainly across the west. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees, in moderate southwest winds.
Friday will be rather dull and breezy with low cloud and some outbreaks of light rain or drizzle. Some sunny spells likely too though across the midlands and east. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds.
