School's Irish Angus Beef Competition team organise talk with Teagasc advisor

Borrisokane CC Angus Beef Competition team who had a talk from John Bergin Teagasc Education Advisor recently (l. to r.): Ronan Dockery, Cathal England, James Morris, Liam O’Dwyer, John Bergin.

BORRISOKANE Community College Irish Angus Beef competition team organised a talk this week for TY and 5th year Agricultural Science students from John Bergin, Teagasc Education advisor.

This talk took place on Wednesday morning and John spoke on a variety of topics including grass management, sustainability, use of slurry and low emissions slurry spreading, the Irish Certified Angus beef industry and beef production enterprise. Our team of Liam O'Dwyer, Ronan Dockery, James Morris and Cathal England have now completed an interview and are through to the Irish Angus Schools Competition Finals event which will take place in Croke Park Conference Centre in March. Best of luck to the School Team for the Finals Event.


2nd Year Boys Basketball

The boys had an unbelievable game this week v Banagher College with a final score of Borrisokane Community College 52 and Banagher College 43. Spectacular display of skill teamwork and fighting spirit from both teams. Well done boys keep it up as we progress towards the quarter finals.


Senior Financial Literacy

Thanks to Shane Enright a representative from Bank of Ireland who joined our 5th & 6th Year Accounting classes to give a talk on Investment Risk Hierarchy and explained how to make money work for you.


U-17 Hurling

Well done to our U-17 hurlers who a good win over Colaiste Pobail Roscrea on Tuesday, Borrisokane 3-14 Roscrea 2-12. Preparations are already underway for the next game.


Junior Girls Soccer

Hard luck to our junior girls soccer team this week who lost to Carrick on Suir on Thursday. The girls played very well but were unlucky not to get the scores. Score Borrisokane CC 2 Carrick on Suir 4.


Task Interviews

Well done to our 5th and 6th Year Leaving Cert Applied students who completed task interviews this week and best of luck in your pre leaving cert exams.
