Pauline McKenna, Principal SHS. presents a donation to Tiernan while his grandmother Margaret looks on
THIS August, Tiernan Bassett from Tullamore will hike up the highest mountain in southern Africa, Kilimanjaro to help raise funds supporting research into meningitis and septicaemia.
Tiernan was shocked at the number of people who die from Meningitis with over 250,000 deaths reported in 2019. Half of these deaths were children under five years of age.
His fundraising efforts were boosted this week by the Sacred Heart School when principal Pauline McKenna presented Tiernan with a donation from the school of €400.
Pauline said "We are delighted to support such a great cause and we wish Tiernan well"
Tiernan is a first year student of Computer Science in Trinity College Dublin and son of Tullamore's late local woman Lisa Bassett.
Tiernan's grandparents Margaret and Tommy Bassett are super proud of Tiernan. Margaret urges people to get behind Tiernan and this great cause.
