Volunteers busy at work on Saturday morning last in Daingean Town Hall

THE majestic Town Hall in Daingean is enjoying a new lease of life thanks to the hard work of local volunteers.

On Saturday last about 40 volunteers, many of them from the local GAA club, descended on the hall for a paint blitz

A number of Ukrainian refugees who only arrived in the town on Thursday also helped out.

The work was organised by the reformed Daingean Town Hall committee headed by new chairperson, local businessman and publican Brendan Darcy.

“We are very thankful to everyone for taking part and for the sponsorship,” outlined Mr Darcy.

He said the paint blitz was the first stage in redeveloping the hall so that it becomes a focal part of the community once more.

Mr Darcy extended thanks to Johnstone paints and Ian Kavanagh who supplied all the paint, rollers, trays and brushes.

He also thanked Daingean GAA volunteers for all their hard work on the day and professional painters, Noel Owens, Paddy Fleming, Pat Fay and Ollie Donoghue.

Thanks also to the local businesses who provided refreshments on the day - Scullys XL, Daingean GAA and Aggie's Kitchen.
