Minister Pippa Hackett and local councillors set off on a tour of Mucklagh following the launch
People can now rent a bike for just €1 per hour at the new Moby Bike Hire facility in Offaly which was launched last weekend.
The facility is located at Mucklagh Community Centre just outside Tullamore and was launched by the Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Pippa Hackett.
Describing it as an "exciting initiative", Minister Hackett said cycling was suitable for all ages but especially for young people.
She advised people to promote the scheme and to encourage users to give feedback to Offaly County Council, the body behind the venture.
Following the brief formalities Minister Hackett along with local councillors Neil Feighery, Danny Owens and Declan Harvey and members of Shamrocks GAA and Mucklagh Development Association set off on a cycle to the village.
They cycled to Mucklagh soccer grounds where chairperson Brendan Galvin gave an update on the great developments there.
Then it was then back through the village down the newly developed Brocca Road and onto Shamrocks GAA grounds where Anthony Hanniffy and Development Association Chairperson, Oliver Bryant gave a briefing on the exciting planned developments.
For only €1 per hour you can hire a bike and cycle to Tullamore where there are bike stations at the train station, Aura Leisure Centre and several other locations.
Back at the centre Minister Hackett met with members of Offaly Beekeepers Association who are currently giving a beginners course there every Saturday morning.
