Gortnamona NS has been named Global citizenship school of the year for 2023
Pupils in Gortnamona National School have become experts in the battle to save our natural world, and have been named as the Global citizenship school of the year for 2023.
Ms Morrissey and the Green team in the school are very proud of their efforts, and a delegation travelled to Kilkenny to accept their regional award. There was great excitement however, when they were also announced as the overall National winner!
The team have been focusing mainly on energy consumption, and have come up with innovative ideas to raise awareness.They have also worked on raising awareness of other social justice issues, such as fair trade, and the UN sustainable development goals.
Their code: Be noble, think global!
Another delegation will travel to Dublin shortly to claim another award - The 'Our world' Irish aid awards will be held in UCD in June, the school has been named as a finalist, and the team will be keeping their fingers crossed again!
