Dog poo bag dispensers restocked at locations in Offaly

Dispensers which collect dog poo have been restocked at various located in Tullamore by the local Tidy Towns group.

The Mitt Mutt dispensers are located on the Grand Canal Greenway at Fiona's Way and Sragh, in Lloyd Town Park, New Road and Collins Lane.

These are all areas popular with dog walkers who are encouraged to clean-up after their pets.

Dog poo on streets and other areas is a big problem in Tullamore particularly in areas popular with walkers.

One Tidy Towns volunteer said he was disgusted to find bags of dog poo in the dispenser on New Road.

“What sort of low life would do that,” he asked.

Last Wednesday Tidy Towns volunteers were out in force at the weekly organised clean-up.

Among the works completed with the painting of railings on the New Road, the planting of orange wildflowers at Fiona's Way, scuffing and cleaning at the roundabout at the Clara and Rahan roads, flower bed cleaning and weed picking in Marian Place and litter picking in a number of locations.

Tidy Towns are looking for volunteers to help with the many tasks the group is completing as part of this year's national Tidy Towns competition.
