Clumps of hair missing after alleged assault on woman in gym in the Midlands
A woman appeared in court accused of assaulting another woman at a gym in Portlaoise.
Amy Williamson, 42, with an address at 14 The Green, Chapelstown Gate, Tullow Road, Carlow is accused of assault causing harm at Ben Dunne Gym, Lismard Business Park, Portlaoise on November 14 last.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardai responded to a call about “two females fighting in the Ben Dunne Gym” at 3pm on the date in question.
“The injured party was distressed. Clumps of the hair on her head missing,” said Sgt Kirby.
He said it would be alleged the accused followed the injured party into the gym and pulled her hair and began punching her. He said the alleged assault lasted for around nine minutes.
Solicitor Michael Byrne was acting on behalf of the accused.
“We need time to review the disclosure,” he told Judge Andrew Cody.
Judge Cody remanded the case back to Portlaoise District Court on July 13.
