ALERT: Met Eireann issues series of weather warnings as unseasonably strong winds set to hit Ireland today

Met Eireann has issued a number of weather warnings as unseasonably strong winds are set to hit Ireland today.

A Status YellowWind warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Connacht is in effect from 6am until noon.

It warns that there will be unseasonably strong southeasterly winds on Saturday morning, strongest in coastal areas and on high ground.

Met Eireann says this could cause damage to tents and other temporary structures as well as leading to falling branches

A second Status Yellow Wind warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Munster is also in effect and remains in place until 10am this morning.

Again it warns of unseasonably strong southeasterly winds strongest in southern and western coastal areas and on high ground.
