Rory O'Connor

AN Offaly rower had a big win recently.

Congratulations to Rory O'Connor from Daingean who won the Swift Irish Senior Coastal Rowing Championships in Portnoo Co. Donegall.

Rory won the double sculls event with his partner Nathan Hull with a comfortable lead over the rest of the field.

Rory also stroked the men's Quadruple sculls event with team mates Nathan Hull, Phil Beattie and Tony McGiveran and coxed by Ryan McNeill. Here the Offaly man's crew took a commanding lead of 13 seconds over the rest of the field with the closest crew to them comprising of a former World Champion and two Irish international oarsmen.

Rory who was formerly a member of Offaly Rowing Club, winning multiple Irish Championships and representing Ireland at the World Championships, will now represent his club Cairndhu at the World Coastal Championships in October in Italy.
