Hot air balloon display a new feature of this year's Tullamore Show

BALLOON

A hot air balloon display is a new feature at this Sunday's Tullamore Show

People of a certain age will remember when hot air balloons descended on Tullamore for the town's annual Phoenix Festival.

Well now the balloons are back with a special hot air balloon display one of the new attractions at this year's Tullamore Show.

Hot air balloons have always been associated with Tullamore since the centre of the town was burned down following the world's first recorded air flight disaster in 1785.

The fire happened during a hot air balloon flight to mark the Earl of Charleville's birthday.

Hopefully there will be no repeat at this Sunday's Show during the hot air balloon display at the Butterfield Estate.

The display is just one of a host of entertainment attractions for all the family.

Entertainment on the band stage includes a Country Jamboree, starting at 10.30am, featuring Clara's Alex Roe while Ferbane's Olivia Douglas and band will play from 4pm to 6pm.

There will be a dedicated children's entertainment area and other features such as a pets corner, a rare breeds display, pig agility demonstrations and free competitions such as Young Mr and Ms Offaly and the Best Dressed Fancy Dog.

Information desks will be located throughout the site while emergency services will also be on hand if needed.

Other on site services include a big screen ATMs, first aid centres, baby changing facilities, food and bar areas and PWD toilets.
