Dr. John Feehan
BIRR'S Dr. John Feehan MRIA, is a geologist, botanist, author, lecturer, eco-scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster.
For almost six decades from the 1960s to the present day his scholarly output remains unrivalled - both in popular and academic terms: he has produced a massive volume of nature, landscape, creation and spirituality writings surpassed by few modern Irish scholars.
His books are all superbly designed and illustrated, making them a joy to hold, peruse and learn from.
Now an illustrated bibliography of John Feehan’s writings, running to c150 pages which are all hardback, signed, numbered editions of only 300 copies, will be edited by George Cunningham and published later in the year by Parkmore Press.
Along with the detailed three-section bibliography there is also a biographical chapter, a chapter with reviews, quotations and notices of some of Dr. Feehan’s little known international research and aspects of his diverse landscape canvas.
The volume also contains reflections from two of his major publication supporters; Fr. Sean McDonagh and Amanda Pedlow, Offaly’s Heritage Officer.
To conclude the volume the editor offers a personal overview of many decades of collaboration both in print and in the lecture hall.
The bibliography will retail at €40 but a prepublication offer of €25 (plus €10 p/p) will operate until the end of September 2023. Prepublication orders to Roscrea People, Parkmore, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, E53YK02; parkmorepress@gmail.com.
