Offaly radio station pays tribute after untimely passing of 'dear friend'

An Offaly radio station has led tributes after the untimely death of a member of their management team.

Eden FM, based in Edenderry, posted a tribute to Karen Hanley on Thursday.

In a short statement, they said: "The Management and volunteers of Eden FM are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend Karen Hanley. Karen was a member of our management team and also our social Media Ninja."

The statement said Karen was "loved by all who met her" and that her contribution to Eden FM was "truly invaluable and her achievements cannot be understated."

"She will be sadly missed but never forgotten," they said.

Another tribute on Facebook said Karen "will be sadly missed" and that "her smile was contagious and her wit and humor was brilliant, loved by all who were honoured enough to know her."

A third added: "My thoughts are with James MJ Kaiden and all the family at this devastating time. Karen, you brought so much hope and awareness and you were so brave and courageous. Sending much love to the family, RIP."

Karen died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and is deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family, husband James, sons M.J. and Kaiden, mother Trisha, father William, brother William, mother-in-law Josephine, father-in-law Mike, brother-in-law David, sisters-in-law, Sharon and Rachel, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Details

Karen will repose at her mother Trisha's Home, 32 Sycamores, Edenderry, Eircode R45PX43 on Friday from 4pm to 8pm with Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 12 noon in St. Mary's Church Edenderry followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
