Queen of the Land 2023 launched in Offaly

THE 2023 J Grennan & Sons Queen of the Land festival will take place in the County Arms Hotel in Birr from November 10th to 12th next.

The organising committee are delighted to welcome 26 contestants to the festival, as it celebrates its 59th year. It is encouraging to see the large number of entries from all over the country and they wholeheartedly welcome them to Birr.

Speaking at the launch of the festival in the County Arms Hotel on Sunday, Deirdre Colgan, Chairperson of the Queen of the Land Festival, said “J Grennan & Sons are the new sponsor, without which, the festival could not be run. It is great to have a local sponsor who has worked actively with us, in organising and supporting this great event. Their experience and involvement in community events has proven invaluable – and we are very grateful.”

Judges of this year’s contest are Maria Walsh, a Rose of Tralee winner; Rachel McNamara, 2023Queen of the Land winner and Sean Finan, Guest Judge former Marca President, Kieran Corrigan, Main sponsor Judge on behalf of Grennans.

The weekend kicks off on Friday November 10th with a Tour to Grennan Mills in Rath with the official opening at Emmet Square in Birr at 7pm.

Saturday November 11th sees a day of interviews and on stage interviews for all the contestants and Whistling Donkeys will be on stage.

The event will conclude on Sunday November 12th with the evening banquet and announcement of winner followed by All Folk Up.
