Offaly roads flooded amid weather warning and appeal to drivers PIC: Cllr John Clendennen
A number of roads in Offaly are flooded amid a Met Éireann weather warning and torrential rain across the country.
The south of the county seems particularly badly affected with Kinnitty-based county councillor John Clendennen issuing an update to locals.
"A lot of rain has fallen in the past couple of hours leaving several roads in a dangerous way and almost impassable," he said.
"I’ve reported the roads at the sawmill (Kinnitty) and St Kieran’s Bush (Clareen) to Offaly County Council, requesting to erect warning signage and attempt to alleviate the flooding."
He appeal to drivers: "Please drive with caution and if there are any other locations please let me know."
A Status Yellow rain warning which warns of heavy downpours and localised flooding is in place in Offaly until 1am on Tuesday.
An Orange warning is in place for Wexford, Waterford and Kilkenny with severe flooding reported in all three of those counties today.
