An Irish writer with Offaly roots is launching her debut novel in Birr this month.
Frances Browner's novel 'A Bronx Summer' will be launched by local Banagher historian James Scully at Birr Library on Wednesday November 29 at 6pm.
A creative writing tutor with Dun Laoghaire ETB and Greystones Cancer Support, Frances - who grew up in Dublin and now resides in Wicklow - is proud of her Offaly roots through her mother, who was from Ferbane.
Frances has contributed to the Birr Review, Banagher Review, Midland Tribune and Tullamore Annual.
Her fiction, memoirs and poems have reportedly appeared in magazines, literary journals, and short story anthologies.
Her work has also been broadcast on the radio.
She launched a book of short stories and a memoir in Birr Library in 2016, and her poetry collection 'Roots & Wings' was released in 2019.
Offaly Arts awarded her a residency in Birr in the summer of 2023 and she is due to host a creative writing workshop in the Esker Arts Centre Tullamore this December.
All are welcome to the book launch on November 29.
