BREAKING: Bus driver hospitalised in Tullamore and 11 others injured after accident between school bus and truck in Kilkenny

Approximately 40 Transition Year students were travelling to Kilkenny with their teachers when the collision took place.

Emergency services are at the scene

A truck driver has been airlifted to Tallaght University Hospital and eight secondary school students and two teachers are being treated at St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny following a collision earlier today.

The driver of the bus has been taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore. The collision took place close to the Dinan Bridge on the Kilkenny to Ballyragget Road shortly before 10am.

Approximately 40 Transition Year students were travelling to Kilkenny with their teachers when the collision took place.

While a number of number of people sustained serious injuries, no one is in a critical condition.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was driving on the N77 with dashcam footage to contact them on (056) 7775000.

Gardaí and emergency services remain at the scene.
