Eighteen of our Junior Cycle Maths enthusiasts went to the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise on Monday December 11th to represent Banagher College at the first Laois Offaly ETB Junior Maths competition. A great day was had by all with two of our teams qualifying for the next round. Two Top Five finishes in a competition of 35 teams was a very respectable outcome. Those involved included Ava Daly, Michael O'Dwyer, Katelyn Smyth, Aoife Moylan, Rachel Kenny, Jack Marshall, Cameron Sullivan and Ruairí Kelly.

Offaly Schools Hurling

Well done to all our students who were part of the Offaly Schools hurling panel which travelled to Silverpark in Dublin on Wednesday December 13th and overcame Coláiste Eoin in the preliminary round of the Leinster Schools Senior A Hurling Championship on a scoreline of Offaly Schools 2-11 Coláiste Eoin 0-14.

This team will now play St Peter’s Wexford in the Quarter Final in January.

Included on the panel are Eric Rigney, Darragh Scully, Shane Rigney, Ruairí Kelly, Luke Bowe, Éanna Mulhare, Ricky Fitzsimons, Niall Flannery & Dáire Daly. Ruairí, Shane (2-5, 0-3 frees), Darragh (0-3) and Ricky (0-1) were all on the starting fifteen.

Senior Hurling

Well done to the Banagher College Senior hurling squad which came from behind to defeat Coláiste Mhuire Mullingar, 2-12 to 1-12, in Multyfarnham on Friday last December 15th.

Banagher College trailed 0-8 to 1-4 at half time and were six points behind by the 45th minute, but thanks to a Tour de Force performance by Shane Rigney, the win was secured and a place in the quarter final v Ard Scoil Rís from Dublin after Christmas.

Banagher College: Éanna Mulhare, Dáire Daly, Ruairí Kelly, Eric Rigney, Robert Duffy, Mark Kilkenny, Lee Hogan, Paul Cannon, Luke Bowe, Niall Flannery, Shane Rigney (1-5, 0-1 free), Harry Grant, Darragh Scully (0-6, 0-4 frees), Aaron Molloy, Ricky Fitzsimons (1-1). Meals To The Door

Our LCA Students presented Sarah Kennedy of Offaly Local Development Company "Meals to The Door" programme with Christmas decorations which they made. Ms Gleeson’s classes also wrote letters and these, along with the decorations, will be added to Christmas Hampers for the locality. Well done all.

Carol Singers

Well done to our diligent team of Carol Singers who, after many practice sessions, have performed beautifully recently, culminating in a two and a half hour performance outside Supervalu Banagher on Friday last.

Food Appeal
This year the annual Food Appeal for St Vincent De Paul is being organised by the Banagher College Headstrong Committee. All dry goods, tinned foods, festive treats and toiletries are very welcome. Donated items will be included in food hampers and distributed to people in need in our local area by SVP.
All donations can be brought to Ms Gleeson’s office. Thank you in advance for your generosity this Christmas and over the years, it really does make a difference.
