One defendant eschewed a date in Kilmallock Court for a wedding suit fitting
While it is rare that a bride is a no-show on her wedding day, a future groom - or indeed groomsman - was a no-show for his important court date - all because he had his wedding suit fitting!
The man was due to appear before Judge Patricia Harney at Kilmallock Court in county Limerick to face a driving offence.
Inspector Barry Manton, prosecuting, said he had received a message that the defendant had a wedding suit fitting that morning.
“I’m not sure if he is the groom or a groomsman. He asked for the matter to be dealt with in his absence,” said Insp Manton.
Judge Patricia Harney said she was going to adjourn the matter and made it peremptory against the defendant.
“We’ll notice him when he comes in as he will be the best dressed man in the courtroom,” said Judge Harney.
The case was put back until February 23 with the State to notify the man so he gets to the court on time.
