Tipperary Roads Policing Unit were patrolling Roscrea town on Sunday when their Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera flagged a car for no insurance pulled in at a local filling station forecourt.
Upon inspecting the vehicle it was found the motorist was a drunk driver who gave a result on a roadside breath test six times over the legal alcohol limit.
The motorist was also found in possession of a knife – which was seized.
They have been charged to appear in court and the vehicle has also been seized over the lack of insurance.
