Mystery of huge boat on grass beside Offaly marina solved
A local mystery of a boat that appeared on a green area beside the marina in Banagher, Co Offaly, has been solved.
The huge boat is cordoned off on grass beside the marina in the town and has been cause for much conversation locally.
Cllr Clare Claffey has moved to clarify the situation: "I've had a few enquiries regarding the boat at the Marina in Banagher," she posted on social media.
"The boat has been lifted out of the water to be surveyed, it is a passenger vessel owned by The Lir Project and will hopefully used for boat tours to Shannonbridge, Clonmacnoise etc," she added.
"I'm unsure of how long it will be out of the water but I'll keep you all updated," she concluded.
Some locals had been complaining that the boat and surrounded fencing was an eyesore in the area.
