The project from Gaelscoil na Laochra in Birr for this year's ESB Science Blast.
THE pupils in Gaelscoil na Laochra in Birr are all geared up for their annual trip to the RDS where they will take part in ESB Science Blast.
Thursday March 7th, is dedicated to Gaelscoileanna and the pupils are putting the finishing touches to their project "Cén fáth gur féidir le eitleán eitilt cé go bhfuil sé lán go barr le daoine agus cásanna?" (Why can aeroplanes fly when they are full of people and cases?)
They investigated the history and evolution of flight and the successes and failures of flight over the years, as well as learning about the engineering of flight. They carried out experiments and wrote up reports. They made models of Apollo 11, an aeroplane wing and made Japanese Taketombos to discover more about flight.
On the day they will get the chance to learn from other pupils by viewing all the other projects. They will also have the chance to attend various workshops throughout the day. It promises to be a fantastic outing for all involved.
