Ollie Bryant has been involved in a huge array of sporting and community groups throughout his lifetime

First-time local elections candidate in the Tullamore Municipal District, Ollie Bryant, has officially launched his campaign.

The Fianna Fail man is part of the party's team with the ambitious task of retaining their four seats in the Tullamore area.

Mr Bryant, who is chairman of Shamrocks GAA Club, was joined by family, friends and supporters at the launch in Mucklagh Community Centre.

Married to Caroline, the duo have five children, and Ollie, has 14 brothers and sisters.

The family's roots run deep in the Mucklagh area and the wider Rahan parish.

“Living with a family of young adults I am acutely aware of the challenges facing young people,” said the candidate.

He added: “With two daughters living abroad and housing crisis impacting those at home, whether they're renting or trying to won a home, I understand the urgent need to address housing issues and make home ownership more achievable for future generations”.

He stressed that his three decades of service with Offaly County Council has provided him with a profound understanding ot the county's needs, particularly in the areas of community, roads and the environment.

“I firmly believe that these sectors are the cornerstone of local development, and my experience within them have fuelled my desire to run for county councillor.”

Ollie Bryant has been involved in a huge range of community development projects over the years, one of which he has been very proud to support – Mucklagh Community Centre.

He has been involved in sport in all forms, as a player, coach and administrator.
