SUBS: Alex Kavanagh: Alex Kavanagh came on for Barry Egan in the 49th minute and challenged for every ball that came near him. He didn't score but gave a couple of good passes and freshened things up. Rating – 6.
Eoin Burke: Eoin Burke got crucial scores against Dublin and as expected, was introduced here, coming on for Conor Doyle in the 53rd minute. He worked hard. Rating - 6.
Dan Ravenhill: Offaly's achievement in winning is enhanced when one notes that one of their star performers Dan Ravenhill was out for so much of the campaign with a hamstring injury. They worked extensively on him to get him onto the subs bench here and the decision not to risk further damage was a wise and fair one. He came on in the 62nd minute at a stage when Offaly were introducing subs to run the clock down and disrupt Tipp but it was great that this stalwart performer got onto the field for the big win. He wasn't on long enough to rate.
Daniel Hand: Daniel Hand was introduced in similar circumstances to Ravenhill deep in injury time but it was also great that he got onto the field. It has been a somewhat frustrating year for Hand who looked like he was going to be an important player but got a troublesome hamstring injury and then had to wait to win his place back on the match day panel. However, he stuck with it, dug in and eventually got back onto the panel and onto the field, albeit for a few seconds. Some players opt out of panels when things aren't going their own way or they aren't making the lineup but forget the bigger picture. Hand kept at it and got back into contention. He deserved to get that late run and he will be an important player in next year's All-Ireland defence. Not on long enough to rate.
