Donal Shirley -Donal Shirley gave a real tour-de-force as Offaly recovered from a sluggish start to get on top in the second quarter, when they outscored Tipp by 0-9 to 0-2. Offaly effectively won the game in that spell and a shellshocked Tipperary couldn't live with them. Shirley was one of several who led the charge, powering by players and making inspiring runs up the field. He fouled for the Tipp penalty but it would probably have been a goal if he hadn't and with Liam Hoare well able to save penalties, it was worth stopping Darragh McCarthy. Rating – 8.
